Our underlying reality as a human community obscures, confuses, and blocks a desire to thrive and overcome suffering in our world. These barriers include the lack of awareness of destructive economic values, illusions of security through power acquisitions, immobilization by a solitary human weakness, unconscious denial of dehumanizing forms of entitlement, being controlled by efforts to shape public thinking, distrust of basic community structures of interdependence, collapse of authentic human understanding, victimized relationship to the open future, and a narrow commitment to specific issues of concern.*
